The Pre-School at the Spinney Day Nursery Bell Meadow have been lending a helping hand to those feeling poorly as they played ‘Doctors’ this week. Following on from some of the children telling them about their recent trip to the Doctors, they Pre-Schoolers soon got to work creating their very own ‘Spinney Surgery’, compete with Consultation Room, Reception and Waiting Room for the patients. They had a look on the Dressing Up rail to find a selection of Doctors & Nurses costumes, complete with real Doctor’s stethoscopes kindly given to the nursery by one of the parents and prepared to welcome the patients into the Waiting Room.

The Pre-Schoolers made sure they had plenty of magazines in the Waiting Room for the patients to read whilst they waited for their name to be called when it was their time to see the Spinney Doctor, an idea the children came up with all by themselves!

In-between taking calling out patients names in the Waiting Room, the Receptionist took phone calls and made appointments whilst the doctors & nurses saw to the patients on the bed in the Consultation Room. Here the children asked what was wrong and soon went about giving the patient medicine, putting bandages on and generally making them feel better!

The children had a great time role-playing and they really thought about all the details of a Doctor’s Surgery based on their own experiences of visiting the doctor and made sure they replicated them in their role-play area.

You will be glad to know that they were fantastic Doctors and Nurses and all the patients are feeling much better having visited the Spinney Surgery!
