Exciting times this week as once again the Spinney Adventurers had been called upon by the Mystical Woodland Folk asking for their help. This time, however, their task took them away from the usual session in the Spinney Woods and on to a place they had never ventured before – the White Wilderness.
The Mystical Woodland Folk told them that the Destroyers had been to the White Wilderness and were melting the ice, causing the animals there to run away and now they were lost! They also spoke of their long lost relative ‘Uncle Snowflake’ who had not returned from the White Wilderness since he set off on expedition there many moons ago.
The task for the Spinney Adventurers left by the Mystical Woodland Folk was to enter the Polar Regions and try to find all the lost animals and return them to their habitat whilst scaring the Destroyers away! They also asked for the safe return of Uncle Snowflake should they stumble upon him! So, after they had learnt about Polar Explorers and the Polar Expeditions they packed up and set off and entered both the South Pole then the North Pole.
Whilst they were exploring the area, they began to find the missing animals and were able to return them home. Following the compass and using the map they carried on and eventually found Uncle Snowflake too, which was brilliant news!
Safe in the knowledge that they have succeeded their mission and that the Destroyers had been scared away they parked up their sled and sat to enjoy a celebratory cup of hot chocolate complete with Icebergs floating in them (aka marshmallows).
Once finished them packed up and headed for home knowing the Spinney Adventurers had done another fantastic job!
The children did a brilliant job working together in order to complete the task and really enjoyed it. It was great to them use their imaginations and they all really got involved in the activity.
We feel that the Spinney Adventurers Club is so good for children as it not only teaches them about their natural surroundings and the world of nature around them, but also encourages them to work together and use their imaginations to learn, adventure & explore.
