The first Spinney Adventurers Club of the Summer Holidays saw the adventurers travel to the place by the sea where the Mystical Woodland Folk’s Ancestors used to live. They had heard that thousands of years ago their Ancestors found our Island after many months of being at sea. As they arrived a storm hit from out of nowhere causing their boat to crash on to the rocky shore. Fortunately they were all ok, but there boat was wrecked and they would not be able to return to their kingdom without it so off they set to find material to fix it.

As they were not able to carry all of their items they hid some in the sand, burying their treasure which they would dig up again on their return. When they did return to fix their boat they dug up the area where they hid their items but could not find them all! With the dark winter coming they had to return to their Kingdom quickly, leaving behind some of their treasure that would remain buried for centuries.

The Mystical Woodland Folk asked the Spinney Adventurers if they could travel to the beach and try to find the hidden treasure. Armed with a metal detector and packed lunch, they set off on their adventure.

When they arrived at the beach they found a number of bottles half hidden in the sand. In each bottle there was a message that outlined a challenge to be completed. The challenges included a Scavenger Hunt where they were to explore the beach looking for all the items listed, which they all very nearly completed – the only thing that wasn’t found on the list was a lost flip-flop!

Another challenge was to think of something that lived in the sea and to make a sand sculpture of it, using thins they found in the beach to decorate it. There were some marvellous creations including a jelly fish, a Hammerhead shark, and starfish.

After a spot of lunch it was on to the real challenge of the day – finding the hidden treasure for the Mystical Woodland Folk! They looked for the area that their Ancestors had last been and began to search the sand with a metal detector, each taking turns to try and find the treasure. Much to the delight of the Spinney Adventurers there was lots of treasure to be found (especially sweets) as well as all of the missing treasure! They found the Fossil Stone, Golden Shells, Magic Gems, Golden Stones and the sacred Symbol Stone!

With all of the treasure safe and sound they headed back to return it to the Mystical Woodland Folk, having successfully completed another Quest!

They had a great day at the beach and loved exploring the area looking for shells, watching the wildlife and playing in the fresh air!
