The Spinney Day Nursery Hoole Pre School
We have had a lovely Forest School session this morning, the last one of the year! With rain forecasted we had the shelter up to keep dry and set about lighting our campfire. After our Woodland Circle Time we talked about the safety aspect of making a fire and the children were brilliant at remembering all of the fire safety rules!
They enjoyed some snack and hot chocolate and each had a go at toasting their own marshmallows. Everyone did a fantastic job counting to ten to let them cool down.
With bellies full they listened to a very funny story about some baubles going missing from the Christmas Tree. Who would have done that? The Cheeky Elf of course, and this time he brought his Cheeky Elf friend to help him with the mischief. They had only gone and taken the baubles from the Christmas Tree to use them to decorate the woods, which is a lovely gesture but has left our Christmas Tree bare!
The children were given the task of finding all ten of the baubles that were hanging on the trees in the woods. They also looked for the Cheeky Elves who kept moving every time they had spotted them! One minute they were up one tree, then when the children looked again those Cheeky Elves had moved to another tree! The children loved looking for them and there was much laughter and excitement every time they realised they had moved.
Before long they had found all ten of the baubles and even some tinsel that the Cheeky Elves must have taken too! Thankfully we now had a bag full of baubles to put back onto our Christmas Tree!
After they returned to the Woodland Circle they sang the ‘Goodbye Forest School’ song and it was time to go back to nursery for lunch. However, on their way back through the woods guess who the saw in the trees! Oh my goodness, how did those Cheeky Elves get there?!
The children have loved their Forest School Sessions over the last couple of months and it has been fantastic to see how they have grown and developed along the way. They have behaved impeccably and we look forward to more Forest School in the New Year.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
