The second week of the Easter Holidays saw the Spinney Adventurers Club embark on another fantastic adventure. The Mystical Woodland Folk had left a scroll that told them a story about a King who reigned in the ‘Land of the River Elves’. The King had been walking through the woods to take the Sun Stone to the River Elves when he realised he couldn’t find it and he must have dropped it along the way. As he looked for the Sun Stone he too became lost and was unable to find his way back to the path!

The Mystical Woodland Folk asked the Spinney Adventurers to go to the Land of the River Elves and look for the lost King so that he and the Sun Stone could be safely returned.

An adventure awaits…

Off they set on their adventure which brought them to a lovely forest with a river runnning all the way through. They followed the path and looked for clues that might help them find the lost King. As they walked through the woods they noticed all the wonderful signs of spring, such as Bumblebees buzzing around, a blanket of Bluebells and birds nests high up in the trees.

Soon they came across a sign with a crown symbol on it. This must be a clue to show that the King went this way! As they continued they found more signs and eventually came a small stream with a lovely faery waterfall.

Looking high and low they soon find the lost King high up in the tree! Quest complete…..or so they thought! What about the Sun Stone that he had lost?

The set about looking for the Sun Stone but came across the next challenge – a woodland maze!

Working as a team they made their way through the maze to find a lovely tree carving with a bench perfectly placed at the end. A perfect spot for lunch! With tummies full they ventured through the woods looking for the Sun Stone, searching behind trees, under bushes and amongst the leaves. After time spent exploring the area they eventually found it!

They returned the Sun Stone to the King who was now no longer lost and went on their way, passing by the stream that was flowing too high this time to cross over via the stepping stones.

With it being such a lovely sunny day they decided to walk right to the end of the woods where they came across a very interesting water feature.

With the quest complete and another great day out in the woods it was time for the Spinney Adventurers to make their way back to Holiday Club for some well-deserved tea! After they had finished they decided to make a map of the woods where they had been, using some of the things they had collected on their adventure. We think it is absolutely brilliant!

Well done Spinney Adventurers on completing another quest! We look forward to seeing you for more adventurers in the Half Term Holidays!

Note to parents: This adventure took place at the fantastic Nant Mill Country Park near Wrexham. It’s a great place to go for a lovely walk.
