Hello from Baby Room!

The Spinney Day Nursery Hoole has a large bright and welcoming Baby Room with lots of windows that look out to the Outdoor Play Area and the rural surroundings. The walls are filled with artwork that the babies have created with help from the caring and inspiring staff, as well as photos of all the fantastic activities they do.

We understand that the children develop at different rates in the Early Years and what the babies experience between birth and the age of four has a large impact on their later life chances.

The staff provide a safe, caring, homely atmosphere which builds up good strong bonds with the babies and helps them settle in well. We call this ‘settling in without tears’. This not only helps the babies but also their parents on their return to work.

The Baby Room staff members have experience in caring for babies and make sure the babies make new discoveries everyday by offering an exciting range of activities and lots of messy play including playing with sand, water, pasta, rice, lentils and jelly.

The Benefits of Messy Play & Activities in the Spinney Baby Room.

There are so many advantages for messy play and the children benefit from the sensory experience which helps them use their 5 senses, but the sense of touch is most frequent. Babies process information through their senses; touching and exploring. During messy play babies will develop hand and eye co-ordination and fine motor skills and what looks messy to a grown-ups is a true learning experience for a baby.

The Baby Room staff use the ‘Spinney Daily Report’ books to tell the parents what their babies have been like throughout the day, but they also see the parents at the beginning or the end of the session. This helps to build good parents partnerships and positive relationships.

The Spinney Day Nursery are firm believers in the importance of fresh air to help support development and always try to take the babies outdoors as much as possible.

For this we have all weather suits, wellies and ponchos and often take indoor activities outdoors so the babies can continue to learn and play in an outdoor environment.
