The Spinney Hoole Pre School & the Cheeky Elf!
The Pre School children had a lot of fun in the woods today as they helped a Woodland Fairy. She had been invited to go to a Woodland Party but was very sad as she didn’t have a dress to wear! She asked the children if they would help by collecting leaves to make her a fabulous dress. They went to work and soon had created a wonderful dress made of leaves. Perfect for a Woodland Fairy.
She also asked them to find her her three woodland animal friends and invite them to the party too. They searched high and low and soon found the two rabbits and the owl. As they were searching the woods they also came across a Cheeky Elf who had climbed up a tree! They were all ready for the party but as the Woodland Fairy is a kind fairy she wanted to take some presents for everyone so off the children went to help her.
They collected pine cones, sticks and leaves, all the things they thought would make good presents, and left them at the fairy door which was the entrance to the party. As they were making their way back through the woods a couple of the children noticed the Cheeky Elf had moved! Where had he gone? He was soon spotted by one of the children on the other side of the woods, hiding in another tree! How did that Cheeky Elf get there?!
After snack they thought it would be a good idea to make the Cheeky Elf a den so they collected big sticks and branches to create a brilliant house, perfect for a Cheeky Elf. When they children went to find the Cheeky Elf, they couldn’t believe it. He had moved again! Where on earth had he gone now!
As the children made their way back to the Woodland Circle guess who they saw hanging from the shelter rope! Oh that Cheeky Elf! How did he get there?!
After a lot of talk about Christmas trees and decorations the children were given the opportunity to make their very own Forest School Father Christmas decoration to take home. They carefully painted a red hat and white beard onto a slice of wood and added googly eyes. Before long they had made the most brilliant Father Christmas faces!
It has been a very busy and fun day in the woods and we look forward to seeing them next week for the last session before Christmas!
