The Pre School children from the Spinney Day Nursery, Hoole had an Advent Calendar with a twist this year.
Instead of receiving an advent chocolate each day, they were tasked to complete an Act of Kindness.
Each day they found the star on their Advent Tree and completed the daily Act of Kindness. These included litter picking to keep the environment free from rubbish, making thank you cards for people, donating food to the local food bank and leaving food for the birds.
One of the Acts of Kindness was to collect toys for the Share’s Christmas Toy Appeal. Throughout December, their lovely families and the Deeside 6th (Coleg Cambria) students have been donating new toys for the appeal. They took them for collection at Dandy’s Top Soil ready to be given to those children who will sadly be homeless this Christmas.
The children have really enjoyed their Act of Kindness Advent Calendar this year. It is a great way to show the children the importance of doing kind things for others and they have loved waiting to see what their daily Act of Kindness will be. We would like to say a huge thank you to our parents for giving so generously to the Share Christmas Toy Appeal. We hope the toys will bring joy on Christmas day to those children who will be homeless over the festive period.
On behalf of us all at the Spinney Day Nursery, we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year!
