The children at the Spinney Day Nursery Hoole had a busy time last week in the preparation for their Spinney Olympics, with a variety of arts and crafts and sporting events.
Both the toddlers and pre school children made their own Olympic torch and Spinney flag which they then followed around the garden as part of their Opening Ceremony before pretending to the light the Olympic Cauldron, placed in the middle of the ceremony. They also had a lot of fun making sweetie stain-glass biscuit medals, Olympic ring donuts and huge gold medals which they wore with pride after a very successful Olympic games day.
With the sun shining, the children took part in a variety of sporting events including boat race, discus throwing (using painted paper plates)running races, bean bag throwing and fun Obstacle courses, only stopping for a well-deserved rest and picnic in the sunshine.
It was a lovely day that the children thoroughly enjoyed and was finished off by their brilliant closing ceremony where all the children were called up to collect their medal and had a chance to stand on their podium that they had made and painted.
Here at the Spinney we are advocates of the Olympic message which is ‘Inspire a Generation’ by encouraging them to learn about the Olympics in a fun & interactive way.
